Dogs are responsible for the largest spread of rabies worldwide. Occasionally there will be a case of a raccoon, fox, coyote, or skunk that bites and transmits the disease to a human in the U.S.
Just because you see an animal during the day does not mean they have rabies. If they appear to act normally they are likely OK. If you see an animal acting confused, stumbling, walking in circles, and foaming at the mouth they are probably infected with rabies.
